This marmalade cutter has been in the family for as long as I can remember. I have also seen one at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum in Cultra. Cutters like this are quite unusual. I can remember my mother - and my father - using it when making marmalade at home. The oranges would have come from elsewhere in the world and then be crushed in this machine in the marmalade-making process. When you think about all the work that went into making a pot of marmalade then and feel the weight of this piece of equipment, it makes you realise how lucky we are today.
