³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ

Chinese picture

Contributed by Antiques Roadshow - Tatton

There is a lot of detailed work involved in this picture of a jardinere, flowers and butterflies designed in mother of pearl. The craftsmen were paid very little as these items were sold (for export) very cheaply to European markets. I think my grandfather bought this in Shanghai - he was Chief Engineer for Blue Funnel Line in Liverpool and often sailed to the Far East.
