This was my mother's and is of great sentimental value. Watches were massproduced for the first time in the 20th century and became objects that everyone could afford. This was a present to my mother on her 21st birthday - watches are the classic present of choice. The box from this watch still survives and shows it was bought at Carmichael's in Hull.
