The French invented the boneshaker in 1865, England followed with the Penny farthing in 1871. This model is the New Rapid Penny Farthing Ordinary and was purchased 20 years ago in the USA and bought back to the UK. It was made from Steel with wire spokes. Interestingly, the maker of the wheels is still in business making pram wheels.
