The item is a long-sleeved cycling jersey made for Dulwich Paragon Cycling Club by a company called Been Bag (based in Middlesborough) in the 1980s. Dulwich Paragon was formed in 1935 as the Village Wheelers and met by the fountain in Dulwich Village. Right from the formation of the club women had been welcomed, in contrast to many other clubs of the time, and this inclusive ethos continues today and Paragon has a strong core of women members - many of whom join the weekly club run out into Kent from Crystal Palace. The club's history is very much rooted in the local area, having had various club houses in Dulwich and Herne Hill, and has run many races and events in London, Kent and Surrey. The recent rise in membership, I think, reflects the rise in interest in cycling across the country and beyond.
