Viking cloak pins

Contributed by Gerry Anderson Bus Run Owen M

These are two cloak pins - one would have been used by a lady and the other by a man. They date to the Viking era and I found them when the rivers in the 1980s when there was dredging going on in rivers in Northern Ireland. It's amazing to think that a Viking woman, whose ancestors came from Scandinavia, would have settled in Northern Ireland and used this very pin to hold her cloak together, keeping her warm.
