I inherited it from my father Neville Overton and his father George. They were farmers in Navenby, Lincolnshire, for over 100 years. It's a bull mask that was put on potentially dangerous bulls so they could only see their own feet, to stop them seeing ahead, reducing the chance of them getting wound up. Most farmers in the 1950s had cattle, sheep and crops. It was usually used on Lincoln Reds, but could also be put on a Freesian cow. It was put in an attic and I retrieved it thinking it was quite interesting and its been in my barn ever since. It probably weighs 5 or 6kg.
