This Morris Dancers Beaver Skin Top Hat was made by Dunns of London on September 30th 1937. It has the mark on the inside rim. It was originally a dress hat which was given by a widow whose husband owned it as a formal dress item. Dave Hatton now wears it decorated with fresh flowers according to the Morris custom when dancing with the Tinners Morris Men from South Zeal in Dartmoor. They are associated with a Morris Dancers team in Melbourne where his grand daughter dances. She will eventually inherit it.
