Hornby Train Set

Contributed by Antiques Roadshow - Beverley

This trainset was produced in the 1950s, at the Hornby factory in Liverpool. The Hornby company made some iconic toys - Hornby trainsets, Meccano and Dinky toys, and the company was founded by Frank Hornby, who was a visionary producer of toys as well as a businessman and politician. This toy dates from a time when train driver was an aspirational career for a boy. A time pre computers. This trainset was contributed to the site by the owners of the Snaith Toy Museum.
