Lapel Pin

Contributed by Antiques Roadshow - Beverley

These pins were worn by the wives of soldiers serving in World War One. This shows how the government created a sense of national pride in activities that were generating huge numbers of casualties, when reports of carnage and horrendous conditions were widespread. The pins say 'mon soit anima-pense'. This belonged to the contributor's great grandmother.
