A Decorated Seed

Contributed by Antiques Roadshow - Beverley

Seed that is decorated by local craftsman from the Indian Ocean, and this may originate from Ceylon. There are 12 little animals inside. This is a wonderful example of a local craft - and the passing of a time when objects such of these were handmade, rather than mass produced targeted specifically for the tourist industry. This was given to the contributor's grandmother by an aunt.
