This delicate glass cup has been dated at 1400, and was made in Venice. Much Venetian glass was made in the district of Murano and that is still a centre of glass production. Sodium oxide is used in the glass to delay the solidification, so giving the glass maker time to incorporate It was given to a contributor's great aunt as a retirement gift and has been in the family since the 1930s. It came into the family via a grandmother who did house keeping in Nuneaton.
