This is an example of Yorkshire 'Pratt' ware, also known as 'cream' ware - which uses just a slip glaze and soft clay. The most well known producer of cream ware was Wedgwood. It's an early example of a Toby Jug, proably more of a decorative piece than a functional item. The original Toby Jugs were produced by the Staffordshire potters in the 1760s.
