These decorative ornaments were probably made at the very beginning of the 20th century and may have come from the Japan-British Exhibition in London in 1910. The exhibition was the largest that the Empire of Japan had participated up to that time, and was driven by a desire of Japan to develop a more favorable public image in Great Britain following the renewal of the Anglo-Japanese Alliance, which had been signed in 1902.
