I'm no historian, nor am I an antiques fanatic, but these lawn edging shears are something I adore. They are, I am told, Victorian. They have a weight and solidness to them which few modern gardening tools possess, and despite their age, they cut like a dream. With attractively turned and prettily decorated hardwood handles they are great to use, whatever the weather. The blades have a central pivot which includes a wing-nut, making them easy to dismantle for any sort of maintenance. They were not expensive but I am so glad they have found themselves a place in the shed here, and I hope and suspect that they will be edging lawns for many, many years to come.
