Maurice Rowe started a small garage and coach business in the village of Dobwalls in 1946. Finding it was almost impossible to buy a new coach' he decided to build his own. He went on to produce 5 coaches and 125 lorries. This example made in 1956 was a tractor unit for a low loader to transport steam rollers. This lorry was being restored for Mr Rowe when he unfortunately died in the 1980s. It was purchased by Arnold Vercoe in 2010 and is one of 15 examples of Rowe Hillmaster lorries still in existence. The history of the Lorries was published in 2003 and has had to be reprinted 4 times to meet demand.
