This book features the story of the Jackdaw of Rheims, who steals a cardinal's ring and is made a saint. It is one of the Ingoldsby Legends, which were a collection of myths and legends, supposedly written by Thomas Ingoldsby of Tappington Manor - the pen name of Richard Harris Barham.
