Roles and responsibilities

• Phil is the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Company Secretary, and also Chief of Staff to the Chair and Director-General.
• He is responsible for corporate governance across the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ and manages the business of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Board, the Executive Committee and all other corporate decision-making bodies across the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Group.
• As Chief of Staff to the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ’s Chair and Director-General, he runs the private office that supports them in undertaking their duties.

Biography

Phil is the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ’s Company Secretary and Chief of Staff.

As Company Secretary he is responsible for corporate governance across the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ â€“ managing the activities of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Board, the Executive Committee and all other corporate decision-making bodies across the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Group.

As Chief of Staff he is the principal adviser to the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ’s Chair and Director-General; he runs the private office that supports them in undertaking their duties.

Phil is the executive sponsor of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ’s LGBTQ+ staff group, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Pride, and is a Trustee of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Media Action, the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ’s international development charity.

Phil began working for the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ in 2005 for the then-governing body of the Corporation, the Board of Governors. He subsequently worked for the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Trust, where he was Head of Governance. He joined the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Executive as Company Secretary in 2014 and is now also the Chief of Staff to the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Chair and Director-General.

Phil joined the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ after working for the charitable sector and the civil service in Australia.

Annual remuneration (as at July 2024)

• £205,000 - £209,999

Expenses and central bookings

Expenses are costs incurred by ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ staff on behalf of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ and claimed through the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's expenses system.

Central bookings are costs incurred on behalf of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ and booked through the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's central bookings system. Both expenses and central bookings are published every three months.
