i agree with KL. award ceromony's do have the tendency to focus too much around the media hype and status of and artist. im glad Akala won hes working hard and is an up and coming influential artist, im glad its been recognised. kano should have picked up best video, as a british underground artist he did well with that video, it spks volumes.
however i do think mobo's need to step up their game thou, kelly bryan and the big bro girls looked awful compared to the sexy chic of rihanna and cassie! invite guess that r goin to make the effort and rep british mucis well-like lemar, didnt he scrub up well!

Don't you know that Jay Z retired 2 years ago? Whoever nominated him should have checked first, and that's probably why he wasn't there.
MOBO is seriously flawed (witness the nomination of the Pussycat Dolls-what connection do they have with black music apart from including a rap in their awful songs?) and has lost a lot of credibility amongst older fans of black music. There are a number of independent artistes in this country who should be checked out, GLO and Ola Onabule spring to mind instantly, making consistently good quality music. The awards concentrate on a very narrow strand of urban music and fail to pick up the wealth of talent which is not constrained by the heavy hand of major record labels.
I found very little of interest in these awards this year. Oh well, let's hope that Corrine, Lemar and Nu-Life can build on what they have acheived so far without their record companies stifling their undoubted talent. Too much bling, not enough soul (or jazz)!!
x man
the one thing the mobos need to inject an ounce of life into the awards is to have a best grime catergory

The Mobos were a disgrace! The vibe was nothing like it used to be and the show just screamed desperation. Instead of nominating and awarding deserving artists, artists with high profiles were. Example: I do not dispute Beyonce's talent but the fact that she could win those awards, despite having JUST come out with an album is an insult to other female artists (MJB, Keyshia Cole).
How can Jay-Z win best international male based off of one feature on a song? Anthony Hamilton for best reggae based on one single? Alisha off of Lipstick and Jamelia...need I say more? If the Mobos want to be taken seriously, they have to start taking the music they claim to represent more seriously and the artists who truly represent the music more seriously.

MOBOs was ok, nothing great, the only thing that got me excited was seeing my friends on there. They were the ones right at the front near the podium reppin the BRIT School! Beyonce did not deserve to get best video for 'deja vu' coz it was crap, damn right she got booed, she is i the country and could not even be asked to turn up! Big up The BRIT School!! Chloe in Web Design lesson right NOW! xx

As a viewer at home i was utterly disappointed with the MOBO's this year. There were plenty of empty seats and absoutely no vibe. The CEO of the MOBO's has tried to make it bigger and better by staging a bigger event-bringing more US Artists to perform and present (coolio-never again!)and holding it at the Royal Albert Hall- but in doing so the momentum has vanished. I believe the MOBO's have to be revamped next year, oona king needs to speak to the people on the streets, those who listen to 1xtra and take their advice!! Well done to Akala, Sway for his energetic performance and all the UK talent.

Well! Me & my mates were a bit disappointed. Let me get this in first... MARY J BLIGE ?? What happened? Im sorry but she should have won her nominations. 'Be with you' was easily one of the best tunes of the year & a solid & classic Mary track - one of her best. Best international female: I know Mary has been around for years but that shouldnt matter. That award is not about people new on the scene its best overall artist & im sorry but Mary is classic, she beats all of the other nominees hands down. I like Beyonce, she has a great voice & shes a wicked dancer but im sorry, she has not yet reached Marys level.
How did Sean Paul win over Damien & Anthony Hamilton?? Corrine Bailey Rae deserved her awards she came out with a beautiful fresh sound this year & deserved her recognition. All good for Akala too.
Other than that we were shocked by the crowd, they looked totally bored. I think the show is starting to become more of an event which is wicked but the production & presentation was still a bit strained. Some akward silences, artists having to practically walk through the crowds etc.
Oh well, hopefully next year the young'uns will be voting for real, credable artists & the production will be a bit tighter? I hope so 'cos god knows this music (or the best of it!) deserves it.

The MOBOs were as good as other years none of big americian artists bothered turn up. Most of the winnners were well deserved apart from Rihahana who voice so dry and dull.
photoflash
MOBO's hint: watch more VMA's(MTV Awards Show) on how to do an live broadcast should be done!!. Last night was bad(not in an good way)the presenters didn't click. smtex was rob!! steve who?? that guy can't mix or has any skills!! Next year dont go live...PLEASE!!!

Beyonce is a tolerable singer. Her new stuff is nothing amazing. I think a few more british artists should have taken some MOBOs home. The Deja Vu video is nothing compared to the story told in Kano's Brown Eyes.
I think the MOBOs should be focus of the artist as a whole not just their celeb status.
